Instamic – The GoPro of Microphones?

Instamic is microphone set to change the way you record audio.  As adventure filmmakers, we can take our cameras into almost any environment, but it can be challenging to capture audio. Instamic aims to do for audio what GoPro did for cameras:

+ Small and portable? Check.

+ High resolution recording? Check.

+ Splash-proof / Waterproof? Check.

+ Mountable nearly anywhere? Check.

+ Record wirelessly without cables, receivers, or external recorders? Check.

Hm, we’re listening!

For their initial launch, Instamic is releasing two versions of their microphone: Instamic Go ($129) and Instamic Pro ($169) on IndieGoGo.

The pro version gives you a boost with stereo mode recoding and a waterproof housing (up to 5 feet). Both feature a rechargable battery via USB, remote controllability with the Instamic App (available on iOS and Andriod), and up-to 4 hours of record time.

Video is our look, but audio is what we feel, says founder Michele Baggio

Instamic opens some new possibilities at an affordable price. For it’s small form factor, Instamic comes with three mounting options – but with a little gaff tape magic, the possibilities seem endless.

Instamic is still under development, but if it can deliver what it’s suggesting the soundscape of our films just got a whole lot more immersive.

Features:

  • 24-bit/48 kHz audio quality
  • Up to 4 hours recording
  • Mono/Dual Mono + Stereo (Pro only)
  • Omni-directional polar pattern
  • 50 to 18,000 Hz frequency response
  • Multiple mounting options – sticky, magnetic, velcro
  • Works with Or without the Instamic App
  • Sync to Bluetooth device

If instamic is exciting to you, check them out on IndieGoGo. There are only a few days left on the campaign.
